Price of Admission

This labrador piece makes a handsome door-knocker.
The stick he carries turns in his mouth so that it clacks against the tag of his collar.
The idea for this piece came from a friend of mine, Mark Kohler, who is also an artist and his lab provided the model. However, the character of it must be credited to my border collie Maisie and you might know dogs like her. She lives for ball, no matter the weather or the time of day. While she knows that evening is the appointed ball-playing time in our routine, she’ll try very hard to con any new comer into throwing whatever bit of stick she can find.
Playing fetch is the “price of admission” at our place!

Whether painting or sculpting my goal is the same: to capture the spirit and beauty of this earthly experience, and to encourage others to see, feel, enjoy, and appreciate it.
