The story surrounding this moment might well be spun when the cowboys are all sittin’ around the glow of a campfire. ”Rim-fired” they call it. When a calf dodges behind ya it provides ample opportunity for a wreck as the rope comes under your horse’s tail. Your best shot is to rip the rope up over your head like this cowboy, and get it on the other side, but to make matters worse, the old cow is right behind her calf.

Whether painting or sculpting my goal is the same: to capture the spirit and beauty of this earthly experience, and to encourage others to see, feel, enjoy, and appreciate it.
