Though the number of years cattle drives took the longhorns from Texas up to northern markets were relatively few, that era left a mark on American culture that the winds of time can’t seem to erode.

Though often not nearly as hardy as his predecessor, the longhorn lives still, a creature surviving from an earlier time before barbed wire divided the plains, when cowboys rode the pains and the west was wild.
