The term “feed bag” is an Americanism that originated between 1830 and 1840. Back in that day, the working horse powered everything from industry and agriculture to transportation and the military. Nose bags (also called morrals) were a handy way to feed them when forage was scarce, that not only eliminated waste from food placed on the ground, but kept hungry horses from eating the wrong thing or stealing another horse’s food.
Here’s a thought: for all of our technological advances, the “greener” something is marketed to be the worse of an impact it has on the environment. Old-fashioned horse power seems to be about as green as it gets.
Fuel: sustainable plant matter.
Emissions: fertilizer
And forget recycling, in the end they’re 100% biodegradable…
